[qubes-users] Re: Broken qrexec after trying to install qubes-windows-tools in Windows 7 HVM in R4.1

2020-04-10 Thread Tech Chris
Oh no.. I feel the pain. I had a similar disaster, I got a 2nd ssd and
installed windows on its own ssd. Physically remove qubes drive before
installing windows and vise versa. I had to reinstall qubes os.. I was able
to save most of my stuff by creating each qube disk image mouting to usb
and then dumping the files into new qubes. What a disaster! But I cant get
away from qubes, Im addicted! LoL I made it! Have fun!

[qubes-users] Re: Cant format private Win10 disk as NTFS, only FAT and FAT32 works

2020-04-07 Thread Tech Chris
I thought Windows tools was only for the old expired qubes 3.. I dont see
any new windows tools out i could be wrong.. I installed windows 10 HVM no
problem with internet access, but none of my audio of video Ethernet
connected equipment could communicate so I just got another ssd and
installed windows 10 on its own ssd boot menu from bios real easy... if u
do that, be sure to physically remove the qubes ssd or windows will screw
it up and vise versa. I had a few days in hell dealing with that fiasco..

[qubes-users] Re: Installation fails with "failed to set new efi boot target"

2020-04-05 Thread Tech Chris
I hear grub is suppose to be discontinued but dont listen to me, just take
what I say as other things to think about.. I couldn't make the grub menu
thing work, I used two seperate ssd's and use bios boot menu to select
which one is booted from.. But it sounds like your use may be slightly more
technical.. Anyway, take this as entertainment only.. The stuff you already
did is way beyond my level...

[qubes-users] Re: Building a new pc for running Qubes OS

2020-04-05 Thread Tech Chris
What the heck that sucks.. Have you tried with a video board? I am not
using motherboard video.. I know u must be anxious, at least I was, and
waiting around doesnt work for me.. I came crashing into qubes and it was a
little messy, but I am glad I did.. Its my favorite OS!

2020-04-04 Thread Tech Chris

I think I just deleted my post oops! Anyway, that sounds like a good system
to me, I believe and I could be wrong but qubes can run on anything
multi-thread capable 16 ram works ok, 32gb of ram works fabulous. DDR4
Clocked in at 2999 or something in the 2900's.. Boot time still takes at
least double or tripple windows 10 but once up and running its very
satisfying. I also am using an ASRock fatal1ty x370 pro gaming board..
Ryzen 7 if I recall correctly.. Built it a few years ago, just recently
bumped up the ram to 32 and added a second ssd and use bios boot menu to
either boot windows or qubes.. Windows cant see the qubes SSD but qubes CAN
see the windows drive.. Perfect!

[qubes-users] Re: How many CPU threads is recommended for Qubes OS ?

2020-04-02 Thread Tech Chris
No, 4 may be enough, but it wont be enough.. I use the ryzen with the 8
double core and 32ghz ddr4 clocked at 2666 ram SSD 1tb and a Fata1ty 350
board... I can boot windows 10 from a second ssd in about 8 seconds from
power up, but qubes takes about 15 seconds, but once up and running, works
out great..
