I will support that point of view.
Could we please have a choice to stay with the manager or to use
console/whatever?
Thank you.

Hi,
If you want to scan your traffic for malicious code or for indicators of
compromise, you may consider to install 2nd firewall VM with pfSense or
OPNsense as a system. They allow to install Snort/Suricata in IPS mode. In
addition, OPNsense (don't remember that in pfSense) allows to turn on ClamAV
module and scan traffic for viruses.
Or you may install Snort/Suricata on separate VM, but it not so easy as *sense
installation.

Re: [qubes-users] Maybe a silly question

2017-03-21 Thread a . mcwheel
Hi,
KasperskyOS is system for embbeded devices, for industrial devices. I don't see
any advantages for home usage in Qubes OS. Besides, it's a closed source peace
of software. Just forget about it, unless you are engineer/developer and going
to use it for it's primary purposes.

As for Kaspersky Security for Virtualization, it could add extra security, but
due to it's closed source nature it could be a weakness itself.
Also, it supports Citrix Xen Server, but it doesn't support open source Xen
Server itself... Besides, it's not for free and pretty costly, not for home
usage.

Re: [qubes-users] installing windows-tools inside React OS

2016-12-25 Thread a . mcwheel
Well, windows-tools utility supports only Windows 7 at the moment. It doesn't
support even Windows 8/10
Besides, ReactOS is NOT opensource Windows (I don't think it's gonna happened,
Microsoft would never open sources for Windows) . It is binary-compartible with
software and drivers made for Windows Server 2003.
I'm afraid for windows-tools to support ReactOS you should send feature request
for windows-tools developers.
Probably, it is better idea to send feature request to ResctOS developers, to
ask them to integrate ReactOS as Qubes TemplateVM.
