[qubes-users] Problems connecting USB to WIn7 VM
I have successfully installed win7 and things work perfectly, well almost. For some reason I can't connect a usb to it. When I try it will tell me that it has (which it hasn't) and then I will get the following error message": "Error: QubesVMError Domain Win7: grexec: not connected" Does anybody have any idea what it happening? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. [qubes-users] Re: How to get Ubuntu 18.04 running in a HVM with a GUI desktop in Qubes OS 4.0.3 ?
Good luck with this. I have managed to install Ubuntu but you only get a small window (which apparently is fixable but I didn't go there). Networking is difficult and I could never get it to recognise my wifi adapter. You could always try and install an Ubuntu template from here: https://qubes.3isec.org/Templates_4.0/ but that entails installing the template in dom0 which I wasn't real keen on. There is guide here on how to do it. Let me know if you can't find it and you want it. I also into the problems that you are citing. I solved it by mucking around with installing it on xvda then xvdb etc. I changed the virtual drive installation options and it worked. But I'm just letting you know that you will opening a door to some more challenges. I was trying to install Ubuntu because I know it and I can set up my printers etc, but I gave up and went through the learning of doing all of this on a Fedora template in qubes which was a better result anyway. Good luck. Let us know how you go. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. Re: [qubes-users] Installation of Kali
Downloaded the latest kali. The problem persists I'm afraid. No idea how to fix this. I'll just stick with Parrot that works like a dream. Re: [qubes-users] How to install and get Linux Mint running in Qubes OS 4.0.3 ?
Its great to see you posting unmnan. I have downloaded some of your other templates but I can't get them working and I've posted on numerous forums and no one can or will help me. I wonder if you'd post a similar how to for your .rpm templates? I just don't know what to do with them I've managed to copy them into a folder in 'personal' domain and when I go to install them (dnf install...etc) I keep being told I need about 200mb more space but for the life of me I don't know where this space needs to be freed up. If you could do an instructional post, or point me in the direction of how to install it would be great. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. [qubes-users] Installing templates.
I've downloaded some ubuntu templates with the .rpm extension. I have been told by someone that I need to put the rpm file into dom0 and then install via cli with dnf etc. I don 't know how to copy the rpm into dom0. I have found the qubes docs that talks about copying and pasting into dom0 but it doesn't really help me. Is there a way that I can open a window in dom0 where I see the file structure such as Home/Downloads/etc as in other qubes? I don't recall seeing such a thing. I'm just seeing this as an easier way to run a terminal when I move the template. But I'm still fumbling around and I thank people for any replies. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. Re: [qubes-users] Installation of Kali
Thanks for the tip about the version of Kali. I have the first one. I'll download the latest and see what happens. I was using 255.255.255.0 and 255.255.255.255 with no luck. [qubes-users] Installation of Kali
This is a cross post so apologies as I am just trying to maximise my chances of getting some help. I've been trying to install Kali 2020 on qubes 4 without success. I can get through the installation procedure but I'm getting problems at the point where Kali uses the net to download software such as the GUI. At this point I manually input the network settings (address, gateway etc which I get from the Qubes settings) and then select a mirror for it to do this, but it gives me a continual error message that there is an error with the mirror. I suspect that the issue is that, for some reason its not getting onto the net as I've been through a heap if the mirrors with the same issue. It won't connect to any of them. It will install but when booted I get a terminal and I can't seem to move past this to a GUI. I've googled it to death and I've tried all of the solutions I can find. It appears that it installs without the GUI and any attempt to get it on the net is useless. It doesn't respond to apt-update, startx, etc etc. I've installed Kali plenty of times, but there is a quirk in qubes that has me stumped. Has anyone had any luck installing this and able to offer any assistance? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. [qubes-users] Problems creating a new virtual machine - Parrot Security OS
Hi everybody I have been struggling with this now for a couple of days and its sending me around the bend. I finally got it installed with a couple of problems that have me stumped. I can't the new vm to full screen. It opens in a smaller screen. I don't know if this is a problem with the host vm settings as early on the setup of Parrot I saw a brief window saying something along the lines of the the host hadn't set up display...that's all I can remember of it. I have been into the global vm settings but I can't find anything to do with display? The second thing is that I can't Parrot to connect to the internet. It goes through the task of trying but then it gives me "Parrot has disconnected from" I don't think this is a problem in Parrot as I've had it running in both VM Ware and Virtual Box without this problem. I currently have Parrot to link to the internet via the default sys- but to no avail, If anybody can throw some light on what I might be missing or point me to a tutorial on it I'd appreciate it. I have perused the QUBES documentation to no avail. I am reasonably competent with Linux based systems (to my own level that is), but this QUBES is a new learning curve that I won't shy away from. I have now spent more than a day trying to master this, searching etc, so turning here is my current hope. I hope I've provided enough info. Thanks for any help. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group.
