Re: [qubes-users] Global value for the paramater "revisions_to_keep"
Hello Thanks Thomas! That was of big help :D I haven't checked if that works retroactively... anyway though, to rapidly free some memory up and recover the system I just deleted all revisions with "lvremove /dev/qubes/dom0/*-back" (responding myself to the second question on my previous mail). [qubes-users] Global value for the paramater "revisions_to_keep"
Hello I had a hard time cause I didn't notice the pool memory was running out of space because of the accumulation of snapshot revisions. I actually don't need 2 snapshots for most of my qubes and I've been wondering if it's possible to set a global value so those qubes don't fill up my disk with "garbage" but I haven't found anything neither at the corresponding wiki ( https://www.qubes-os.org/doc/volume-backup-revert/) nor any other relevant result on google. It also would be useful to know if there is a fast way to just delete all revisions all at once without affecting the main qube. Hello Andrew Sorry for the delay in the answer. Thanks for your answer. In a way it helped because I just oriented templates according to how strictly I could isolate them from direct connection and less trusted software sources. [qubes-users] Install ttf-mscorefonts-installer on debian 11
Hello I would like to install ttf-mscorefonts-installer with the following command: sudo apt install ttf-mscorefonts-installer but as it privative stuff, it is not directly available in the regular repositories. It actually tries to connect to many urls so it can automate an install of those fonts. I had the same problem with the "add-apt-repository" when trying to install additional repositories to the ubuntu bionic template (provided by unman) but I worked around the issue by manually downloaded keys from a connected appvm, transferring them to the template and manually adding them. It was a bit of a pain in the ass then but it just got worse since the "apt-key add" has been deprecated and now gpg is the way to do it. Is there any way to install the microsoft fonts and/or to install repositories that require wget to download keys? Re: [qubes-users] How to resize bionic-desktop template
Hello I have another question relating this. That command resizes the logical volume and that's ok, but... the problem is that partitions inside that volume doesn't get resized. What I've done is: Installing the bionic-desktop template Clone the template to bionic-desktop_test Resize the logical volume with "qvm-volume resize bionic-desktop_test:root 20G Now I start the template, open a terminal on it and run: user@localhost:~$ lsblk NAMEMAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT xvda202:01 18.6G 0 disk ├─xvda1 202:11 200M 0 part ├─xvda2 202:212M 0 part └─xvda3 202:31 9.8G 0 part / xvdb202:16 12G 0 disk /rw xvdc202:32 1 10G 0 disk ├─xvdc1 202:33 11G 0 part [SWAP] └─xvdc3 202:35 19G 0 part xvdd202:48 1 500M 1 disk So the volume was resized (18.6G) but the root partition is still 9.8G and that means... there's a limit for the software that can be installed in there. I can't resize the partition from inside the template and I can't find how resize specifically the xvda3 partition inside that particular logical volume. Any ideas on how to do it? Thanks in advance! Hello Rusty Yes! You're right! As it appeared after some heavy dom0 and kernel upgrading I kind of gave for granted that it would be something not related to programs but related to dom0 or kernel. But I've tried a proposed workaround posted on the link you sent and it works much better. Thank you very much because it was really driving me crazy. [qubes-users] programs run on different qubes freeze
Hello I've been using Qubes OS for almost a year and until now I didn't have any major problem that I couldn't solve using the official documentation or many posted solutions from experienced users. A couple of days ago I started to experience a problem on chromium browsers run on any qubes that I have. They freeze for 2 to 5 seconds when I stress the browser a bit (using it a bit faster). It's similar to the little freezing that any qube experiences when updating through "qubes updater" any time disp-mgmt qube or the different templates start and stop during the process. The problem is that it occurs quite often (like every 10 or 15 seconds) that it makes impossible to work comfortably. I'm using a dell latitude 5470 that I specially bought because it was one of the most compatible laptops according to the HCL so it shouldn't be a problem of compatibility. I have the maximum amount of ram that the computer supports and I've checked hard disk space and there is no issue with that. I'm running a different install on a very similar machine that started to experience the same issue, so it may probably be something related to software. And a few days ago there where many kernel updates on both dom0 and fedora and debian templates, so I think it will probably an issue with that. Is anybody else experiencing this issue?
