Re: [qubes-users] fedora-29-minimal sys-net/firewall problem
Thanks to Ivan, I figured it out (with a bit of luck). After comparing packages in his working template to my own, I first tried to install: dbus-glib ipcalc iproute iproute-tc iputils That fixed it as far as I can tell. I now have a working sys-net and sys-firewall with the fedora-29-minimal template. I'm assuming the ip* packages were the key, but I don't really have any idea. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. [qubes-users] fedora-29-minimal sys-net/firewall problem
I've been using Qubes for about 1 year now, and I wanted to try using a minimal template on my Dell XPS 13 laptop for the sake of conserving space. I've installed the packages recommended at https://www.qubes-os.org/doc/templates/fedora-minimal/ for sys-net and sys-firewall and I also had to copy the /usr/lib/firmware/ath10k from my fedora-28 template to the fedora-29-minimal clone in order to get my wifi to work. Under the fedora-29-minimal template clone I can connect to wifi. With both sys-net and sys-firewall using the minimal template, both templates and dom0 are able to update, so I know there is connectivity. However, I am unable to get any internet connectivity in my appvms. I have no expertise in the realm of troubleshooting these problems. I am just knowledgable enough to sometimes figure stuff out and sometimes screw things up. Any help would be appreciated. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. Thanks for the info. I'll just go ahead and reinstall. Can you tell me what I did or how to avoid this issue with the thin pool in the future? Was I just taxing my system resources too heavily? I'll have to look into it because I don't really even know what the thin pool is. Thanks -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. [qubes-users] Qube manager has unexpectedly stopped working
Have had Qubes 4 running smoothly until just now. Upon startup Qube Manager no longer loads, and when I try to start it from the menu I get an error: "QubesDaemonCommunicationError: Failed to connect to qubesd service: [Errno 2] No such file or directory at line 9 of file /usr/bin/qubes-qube-manager." This has proven to be out of my league in terms of being able to troubleshoot, so I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction for a fix so that I don't have to wipe everything and start over on this machine. It may be relevant that just prior to this happening I had a warning pop up that had something to do with low memory in something that was called "LVM thin pool" or something similar to that. If so, that is outside the scope of this message group and I'm certainly not the best place to go for information. I would suggest doing your googles, as there are many guides for this process available scattered about. Briefly, I have found that I'm happy with the an email setup that uses mu4e (https://www.djcbsoftware.nl/code/mu/mu4e.html) for interacting with email in emacs. I use isync/mbsync (http://isync.sourceforge.net/) for getting my mail from the server. Guides like this one: http://www.macs.hw.ac.uk/~rs46/posts/2014-01-13-mu4e-email-client.html ...are helpful for giving you a template on how to set everything up, and it's just a matter of wading through the details to get it tuned to your own liking. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. [qubes-users] Re: Split GPG and Emacs/mu4e: able to retrieve email but not send
Apparently creating a post for help is like replacing something you've lost, only to find it immediately after replacing it. Here's the solution to this problem: Apparently Emacs will trick you into thinking you've changed the epa-gpg-program variable, but it won't actually honor that change when it runs a gpg call. This: https://blogs.fsfe.org/jens.lechtenboerger/2017/04/12/gnu-emacs-under-qubes-os/ Supposedly I should be able to use the following to make Emacs recognize qubes-gpg-client-wrapper: (customize-set-variable 'epg-gpg-program "/usr/bin/qubes-gpg-client-wrapper") But even though I'm running 25.3.1, it didn't work. I had to fall back to a second option: (require 'epg-config) (customize-set-variable 'epg-gpg-program "/usr/bin/qubes-gpg-client-wrapper") (push (cons 'OpenPGP (epg-config--make-gpg-configuration epg-gpg-program)) epg--configurations) This did the trick and actually got Emacs to recognize the changed variable. I can now send email using emacs/mu4e and Qubes split gpg. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group.
