[qubes-users] HCL report motherboard MSI MEG x670e ACE
Here is my HCL report for the motherboard MSI MEG x670e ACE. Booting even the installer works only with the x2apic=false flag set in both xen and linux lines in grub. Automatic creation of networking related qubes (sys-firewall and sys-net) during first configuration after install crashes the pc. Displayport is working, video seems to be working at least from an initial test. Usb devices work and attach successfully to qubes. Creation of new qubes works. Will have to attempt to manually create networking qubes and report back. I should also note that the motherboard is running a beta bios version due to a problem with vsoc voltage being set too high and not properly capped leading sometimes to frying 7000 series cpus with expo profiles enabled. [qubes-users] HCL Report for: Lenovo T14s AMD Ryzen 7 5850U PRO (20XF004VUS)
Hi Sven, Next to my T480s I recently bought a Lenovo brand new T14s AMD Ryzen 7 5850 PRO 32GB RAM. Full installation of QUBES OS finished within <9 minutes including my slow decision making (I finally do like Debian 11 as the standard and not Fedora). Ultimately I want to run a openSUSE Qube as the standard work cube and a Kali Linux Cube, Windows 11 Cube. For now: Not really tested anything but installed very smoothly and fast. Starting QUBES OS also blazing fast. This blazing fast laptop install didn't really surprise me because of the hardware the 8 cores and 16 lanes in this AMD CPU being complemented with 32GB RAM do their job. I am very curious How this new T14s will operate on QUBES OS Please find attached my HCL report. I found the same issue with the TPM2 as on the T480s. TPM2 is activated but the report says different. Hope this report is useful to other QUBES OS users. Have a great day! Roland -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. [qubes-users] hcl report
Hey, wanted to contribute as I find this project Awesome: Troubles: - The AMD Vega 56 (the report states 64 but it seems to have gotten that wrong) is not yet supported out of the box, so it was only letting me go in the text based installer first (which doesnt work, always ran into #2113 , as you cant hand over the LUKS password to the installer). Driver support will only come when kernel 4.15 will be used. Problem was overcome by installing a second GPU (which I will need anyways for PCIe pass through) - Seems like the software based fTPM 2.0 that is integrated in the Ryzen 2600 isnt yet supported (I switched it on in Bios, Windows worked with it), but I havent looked deeper into it. Is there a final word out there already, if fTPM is less secure than dTPM? Thank you guys, and continue your great work. [qubes-users] HCL report for Lenovo ThinkPad T520 4240-4HG
Jan Hustak Feb 6 Hello, See attached. Regarding BIOS settings mentioned in "remark": the combination of both VT-d and Discrete Graphics being ON causes the installer to freeze. If configured post-install, it causes the OS to freeze while booting. Turning VT-d OFF allows for installation (with warning) but breaks networking and who knows what else. As the remark states, the proper configuration is VT-d ON and Discrete Graphics OFF. jh - Hello, per https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/qubes-users/TB0r0Qv0yhc/l4e1tsCBAQAJ I am attempting to install Q4.0 rc5 from a USB drive on a Thinkpad T520 4240-4AU UEFI BIOS Version 8AET62WW (1.42) I note from the HCL Mr.Jan , says to disable "discrete graphics" (I did enable VT-d) , If I go to Config -> Display , there is no reference to "discrete graphics" it offers 1 option on Boot Display Device "thinkpad LCD", Analog VGA , etc Further, I have chosen "UEFI only" in the Startup-> UEFI/Legacy Boot choice AND I see no "secure boot" anywhere to disable. NOW when I boot off the USB Drive I see the line of penguins and then probably all the loading information BUT, it is all in warped and unreadable . So , I tried Legacy Mode, and it just stops @ a " failed to load ldlinux.c32" etc I , also , am aware of : https://www.qubes-os.org/doc/thinkpad-troubleshooting/ but, again there is no "secure boot" option to disable ; this USB stick *Was created with dd if of ; but the URL doesn't specifically reference the T520 .. and the solution looks quite involved .. is this my only choice at this stage ? or is there some "discrete graphics" to disable that I can't find ?? the HCL Bios version Mr. Jan references for 4.0 is 8AET51WW (1.31 ) , if anything mine seems to be slightly newer and should it have "discrete graphics" to disable ? with the graphics messed up, don't think I can't get to the Intel HD3000 reference, that seems to be something to be done after installation in any event? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. [qubes-users] HCL report qubes 3.1
Dear Qubes Development Team, I am a complete noob with qubes and I am still learning to use it properly. Accordingly I have split my machine between qubes and a debian jessie 8.6. I first installed qubes into the top 500GB of the hard disk, then debian into the rest. I got the debian installer to write an MBR onto a memory card. I then hacked qubes' efi environment so i can boot the debian through debian efistub. I still use the debian as my "main" working environment, but intend to move gradually over to the qubes side as I learn to use it.
