I think this has something to do with how python gets the default Gtk icon set for use in Gtk.IconTheme.get_default().load_icon(). I haven't tested this on kde but I've noticed on i3 and awesome that running "xfsettingsd && pkill xfsettingsd" is sufficient to get the icons to show in qui-domains. But I haven't dug into it to figure out what xfsettingsd is doing that sets this, and how it sets it to be persistent after killing it. I haven't been able to set anything in ~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini that will get the icons to show up automatically. This also affects the icons in qui-devices for me. My recollection is that marmarta said in one of the qubes-issues threads that the tray widgets are triggering a Gtk bug and that workarounds were in progress (or maybe already in -testing?). The major bug is the absence of NetworkManager icon - I don't notice the absence. Last year I partially researched this issue using different widget libraries available in python. I was able to consistently reproduce either the blank icon or a properly-displayed icon... I will try to dig this up later this week. I'm told that the "Settings" icon in qui-domains menu is oversized. I don't see any icons at all in qui-domains; just text. Otherwise seems fine to me, but I don't think I'm representative user. Custom mens, Activities, Kwin stuff works fine. Can any other KDE users chip in with problems that they still see? 1. Qubes widgets (but not others, incl. domU widgets) sometimes require multiple clicks just to activate them. I think this happens more under high system load but not yet sure. Its frequent enough to feel like a constant irritant. 2. The pointer input driver that is now used in dom0 isn't optimal. Scrolling is much slower, and this slowness is felt more in KDE Application Launcher, for example, than the Xfce launcher. (But this isn't an issue when using sys-usb for pointer input.) A thread here described a workaround... https://groups.google.com/d/msgid/qubes-users/LaRhFSU--3-1%40tutanota.com?utm_medium=email&utm_source=footer This matters especially for any PS/2 pointers (like trackpads) which are driven by dom0. 3. IIRC screen standby mode doesn't work with lightdm, regardless of the DE used. Only KDE + sddm combo gets screen standby working. -- Chris Laprise, tas...@posteo.net https://github.com/tasket https://twitter.com/ttaskett PGP: BEE2 20C5 356E 764A 73EB 4AB3 1DC4 D106 F07F 1886 -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. [qubes-users] KDE problems
I'd like to make concerted effort to fix the outstanding issues with KDE - there's quite a few still open in qubes-issues. The major bug is the absence of NetworkManager icon - I don't notice the absence. I'm told that the "Settings" icon in qui-domains menu is oversized. Otherwise seems fine to me, but I don't think I'm representative user. Custom mens, Activities, Kwin stuff works fine.
