[qubes-users] QWT Windows
Hello friends, With Qubes 4.1 my old windows 10 standalone installation still boots correctly, but I cannot copy/move files to or from other qubes. I understand the problem is already resolved, but the solution is not yet available with mainstream updates. But I suspect updates will never be able to fix it and I need to find a way to manually install a new version of QWT. So may I simply wait or not? You can re-enable the VGA adapter by reversing the process in Windows control panel, or by 'qvm-features --unset video-model' as appropriate. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. I believe the "don't update" message has always been there, it didn't change from Q3.2 to Q4.x. But, obviously, the processes used to provide Qubes integration may stop working due to a certain update, so it's a valid warning. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. [qubes-users] QWT and win updates
I installed again windows following this https://www.qubes-os.org/doc/windows-vm/#xen-pv-drivers-and-qubes-windows-tools Windows now is working and fully updated but no additional driver is installed. Reading this tutorial many times, for me, it is not yet clear what the following means: "If you plan to update your newly installed Windows VM it is recommended that you do so *before* installing Qubes Windows Tools (QWT). If QWT are installed, you should temporarily re-enable the standard VGA adapter in Windows and disable Qubes’ (see the section above)." Does it mean that once QWT is installed I can no more regularly update my system, unless every time remember to do some strange and not well understood VGA tweaking? This seems very strange because on 3.2 I always updated windows even if QWT was already installed, with no issues. So did this really change with Qubes 4.0 Best -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. [qubes-users] QWT issues with USB device and copy to vm
Hi, (Qubes 4 rc 4, fully updated dom0) I installed the latest R3.2 QWT after doing a fresh install of Win 7 Pro and doing all the Win 7 OS updates. That took about an hour and 8 reboots and I needed to expand my Windows drive from 25G to 35G using `qvm-volume extend win7:root 36g` and then using the disk management tool in windows to grow the volume. Then I installed QWT by doing this: ``` # dom0: qvm-start win7 # win7: bcdedit /set testsigning on # shutdown # dom0: qvm-start --cdrom=untrusted:/home/user/qubes-windows-tools.iso win7 # win7: run .exe in attached CD-ROM to install QWT shutdown # dom0: qvm-start win7 # win7: finish QWT install, crashed reboot in normal mode from crash finish QWT install, this time completed ``` Issues: 1) When I try to use Nautilus to move a file over to `win7` it seems to work (even starting win7 if it isn't running already), but I can't find the folder for where it is on the Windows side. If I try copying to the win7 vm again I get an error that the file already exists. So it seems the copy is working but I can't find the files on in Windows. 2) When I use the device manager widget in the XFCE panel to associate my USB scanner with win7 it seems to freeze the widget and is unresponsive until I shutdown Windows. The USB device doesn't appear in Windows either. Any ideas? Glen -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. [qubes-users] QWT
Hi folks, Is there a leak in the QWT QGA.EXE that means it jsut keeps consuming CPU resources? It uses between 10% and 60% of the CPUs that I assign to the system, slowing the whole thing down. It's not like I'm using 3D graphics or anything advanced. Just simple rendering things. Also... System Tray is not respected into Qubes itself, even under a sub-menu item in the system tray for that one guest. Is there any way that this could be implemented please? If I minimise something to the system tray I can no longer access it. Task Bar is fine, but System Tray is not. Have I not set something up that should be? Is there something that is required for it to be done that I have not got installed? What is it that you would require to be able to look into this issue?
