Hi,
I'm very new here.

I have recently installed 4.0, which works very nicely.

Booting from the 4.0.1 DVD, I see a black screen immediately after the xen
console messages (I deleted console=none). There is no drive activity, and no
console messages from dom0. It seems to be completely hung.

Comparison of the xen command line from the 4.0 installation shows several
missing items :
  dom0_mem=min:1024M
  dom0_mem=min:4096M
  iommu=no-igfx
  ucode=scan
  smt=off

Adding the first two items (and no others) to the xen options allows the DVD to
boot to the installer.

Is this due to some special feature of my CPU/motherboard ? (Amd ryzen 7 1700/
ASrock B450M pro4 )

Or to some incorrect BIOS setting ? I'm interested that the smt option is
missing? Is this no longer necessary ?

Is there any help I can offer ? I have not tested installing from the DVD -
I've only gone up to the keyboard layout selection...

Is there any risk than dom0 updates of my 4.0 installation will remove these
items from the bootloader options for xen ?

Thanks for any hints.
