Two things that may have caused the problem:

1. Only one VPN guide should be followed at a time. They should not be
mixed.

2. Cloning sys-net could cause your system to lose connectivity, since
the multiple network VMs would compete for the NIC hardware. I don't
know why you would do this... the instructions revolve around creating
new proxy VMs (app VMs with 'provides network' enabled) and don't
mention cloning or creating network VMs. Basic connectivity in the
network VMs should be totally unaffected.

Hi
Sorry, I intend the opposite
Read from left to right
sys-net--sys-firewall--sys-whonix--proxyVM(with vpn)--appVM
When I go to whatismyip in appVM, I see tor exit node

If the appvm is directly using the vpn vm as its netvm (uplink), you
should see the vpn's address when browsing to a site like whatismyip.com.

Please clarify your setup:

What do the arrows mean in your diagram? In the context
of Qubes, such arrows usually mean "has as its NetVM".
For example, this:

   sys-whonix--->proxyVM(with VPN)

would mean "sys-whonix has a ProxyVM (with VPN) as its
NetVM". However, in your case, this wouldn't make sense,
becuase a ProxyVM can't have an AppVM as its NetVM.

Should they be interpreted in the opposite direction?

[qubes-users] VPN in ProxyVM

2016-05-26 Thread katerimmel
Hello
If I use a VPN in proxyVM that has a GUI interface, then I haven't setup
it in network connection, does sys-whonix see it or do I have to make any
changes?

Thank you
