mainly because fedora updates are always so very slow (200-400kbps), while
debian isn't.

afaik the first graphics slot is tied into the CPU directly, and doesn't go
through the chipset. So if all you care about is whether that'll work, it'
should be fine.

Xe probably won't work quite yet, AMD GPUs have mainline kernel support by
now, so that they're usually supported within a few months. (Though buying
one 6mo or older is probably helpful.)

if you only have the main qubes repo enabled, running qubes-dom0-update
kernel-latest should install v5.8.16. 5.9 and upcoming 5.10 builds can be
found in current-testing, though the latter has yet to land.

5.4 is a stable kernel series, so if you experience issues, please report
them on the github issues list after some trial and erroring on here or the
qubes-os forum.

set in /usr/lib/systemd/system/tmp.mount.d/30_qubes.conf. This file also

neither suggestion seems to work. Not sure why, the
tmp.mount.d/30_qubes.conf file does exist, and the tmp.mount service also
exists and is loaded. But total swap size remains 1048572kB.

just FYI: kernel-latest is now at 5.10.13, which has a fix for the specific
issue you encountered.
Otherwise, you can find the version numbers for earlier kernels here:
https://yum.qubes-os.org/r4.0/current/dom0/fc25/rpm/ for manual
installation.
