Probably safer would be to:

1. Download the rpm using Firefox
2. Open a shell
3. cd Downloads
4. rpm2cpio qubes-windows-tools-3.2.2-3.x86_64.rpm | cpio -idm

The qubes-windows-tools-3.2.2.3.iso file can be found in
/home/user/Downloads/usr/lib/qubes

Probably easily scriptable using wget instead...but for something you do once,
the above will do.

2019-04-23 Thread 'awokd' via qubes-users

Daniil Travnikov:

Yes, I tried the 4.0.1-3 version. And after the command:
'bcdedit /set testsigning on'
in Windows promt i got testing mode OS and after that I start the .exe file on
the 'D:' but on the middle of the installation process VM halting every time.

At first I thought that it could be the 'qrexec_timeout' problem, I tried 300
and 600, but VM halted literally in the few seconds afer .exe file installation
started.

Now I want to test the 'qubes-windows-tools-3.2.2-3.x86_64.rpm' version:
https://yum.qubes-os.org/r3.2/current-testing/dom0/fc23/rpm/qubes-windows-tools-3.2.2-3.x86_64.rpm

It's a bit risky, but the most straight-forward way would be download
that rpm directly, copy it to dom0, then install it manually with dnf.
Haven't attempted myself, though, so be careful it doesn't try to
downgrade any other packages when you do.

[qubes-users] Qubes Windows Tools not working

2018-09-13 Thread 'Totally Zoid' via qubes-users
Hello,

I've installed Windows 7 x64 in a VM and updated it until SP1 and tried to
install Qubes Windows Tools 4.0.1-3. I get to the part where it says it will
place some data on the E: drive and asks me to restart the VM, but when I do
restart, Windows won't boot and keeps launching Startup Repair, though I do get
entries for explorer.exe and others in the Qubes start menu.

A possible bug: when Qubes Tools give the notice about the E: drive I also get
a Windows dialog box in the background asking me to format the E: drive (even
though I can already access it from Windows Explorer). However, whether I do it
or not, I still get stuck at Startup Repair on subsequent boots.

[qubes-users] qubes-windows-tools degrades performance of hvm

2017-07-03 Thread Cranix
Hello,
I'm using latest qubes os with latest's dom0 updates.
I'm using version before the latest qubes-windows-tools.
I have setted up HVM with windows 7 ultimate 64bit version,
everything was fine.(i had to do a hack with changing graphics name
to cirrus, and next enable unsigned drivers).

After installing qubes-windows-tools HVM managed to start
but i am experiencing huge lag when trying to do anything on this HVM.
I mean to open start menu i need to wait 4 seconds.

I made a few attempts, excluding various components of
qubes-windows-tools but with no effect.

Everything else is working fine on my setup.
I have checked logs but i did not seen anything intresting.

Have You any ideas what can cause problems?

[qubes-users] Qubes-Windows-Tools What does it really need?

2017-02-16 Thread Drew White
Qubes-Windows-Tools, What does it REALLY need to run properly with no stutter
on the graphics?

I have 2 threads and 2 GB RAM assigned to a Windows Guest with the Qubes Video
installed, NOT SEAMLESS, and it has major stutters and degradation in
performance.

If I run with Qubes Video disabled and standard enabled, then it has no stutter
or degradation in performance in the least, even on higher resolutions.

With 4 threads and 4 GB RAM, there is no improvement when using Qubes Video
Driver.

This occurs with QWT version 3.2.2.3.
With 3.2.1.3 there was no issue.

This is on my laptop that had everything perfect with 3.2.1.3.
Upgrading to 3.2.2.3 caused it all to go awry.

What does QWT Qubes Video need to work properly?

[qubes-users] Qubes Windows Tools

2016-09-28 Thread Drew White
Hi Devs,

I would like to know from a dev what the requirements are for Qubes Windows
Tools (QWT).

All O/S reference are known to be x86_64.

Does QWT require any specific version of Windows 7?
Or will they work with all versions of Windows 7?

Why does QWT require TESTSIGNING to be turned on?
Is that because Win7 requires things to be signed?

What are the CPU/RAM requirements for running QWT Seamless Mode?

Why not have QWT be it's own GUI rather than explorer.exe, and also replace the
login shell for windows?
Or is that something that would be difficult to do?

Only a few questions here, I'll keep the rest that may also depend on the
answers to those.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,
Drew.

not sure if it can be removed. Could you please check whether the windows

qubes-windows-tools is currently in the test repo, since it is not yet stable.
You can install it by enabling the current-testing repo:

$ sudo qubes-dom0-update --enablerepo=qubes-dom0-current-testing \
qubes-windows-tools
