is your i3? I noticed that my version is 4.12 from 2016. The latest release is
i3-4.16
"sudo qubes-dom0-update i3 i3-settings-qubes" will install i3-4.12

Ty Sven. Yes, I installed it with "sudo qubes-dom0-update i3 i3-settings-qubes"
. I uninstalled i3 and reinstalled it "dnf remove i3 dmenu i3-settings-qubes"
to remove i3. But the problem with dmenu persists. More importantly I still
can't figure out why applications/screen hang when I am on I3.
