Actually, it's just a portable keyboard. Also, a midi interface is a cable with
a usb plug on one end and two midi plugs on the other end. Are you using one of
these to connect the keyboard to your computer? If so, what brand is your midi
interface? This may help me help you.

The PSR170 is not a Motif. It's a portable arranger keyboard. Maybe you
downloaded the wrong driver.

My YPG635, for example, allows for clock synchronization and bulk dumps, but no
direct access to the voices or the use of the keyboard. Read the manual,
