Is it possible to map a plot with horizontal lines like in the step-plot,
but without the vertical lines?

I'm using filled.contour in R with matrix 19x19. Therefore the plot isn't
very "smooth" Are there any functions in R to make it smooth? I can't have
more observations because it takes to long.
