Yes, if you know what values of the tuning parameters to use, but I don't know
why it was failing.

i have two questions:
1) How to obtain a variable (attribute) importance using e1071:SVM (or other
svm methods)?
2) how to validate the results of svm?
currently i am using the following code to determine the error.
