From NEWS of R-2.0.0: o library() now checks the version dependence (if any) of required packages mentioned in the Depends: field of the DESCRIPTION file. This is not done in R-1.9.1 and prior, I believe (or it wouldn't be in NEWS). Andy From: Jean Eid Thanks to
