In the absence of a quick response from Simon (and you wrote to a list, not a person):

Note that 3.4.0 does not have a release date yet (except not before Apr 15).

Discussion on the minimal supported macOS version and supported toolchains has started, but I don't expect decisions until the month-long run-in period for 3.4.0. I am sure once that is in place, binary packages will be produced when possible.

Hi Simon,

We're trying to clean up the Bioconductor builds for the upcoming April
release. I see we don't have mac binaries on CRAN for R devel (3.4). Are
you planning to build those before the next release?

Another question is what OS X will be used in the next R devel after the
April release. Is it safe to assume it will also be Mavericks or should
we prepare for one of the others - Yosemite, El Capitan or Sierra?
