[Radiant] Is Radiant CMS right for me?
Hello, I am not too familiar with using Radiant nor am I with using a CMS. I am currently building a webpage that has lots and lots of data in an MS SQL 2005 server (I know). I have build much already using only ruby on rails to display and edit the data using some various ruby plugins I found for Microsoft SQL server. This is all grand, but I know that the end-user of this site will probably want a real easy way to manage these databases and pages through some type of CMS. Since I am using Rails, it seemed as though Radiant would be the next logical step in the development process. With that said here are some issues that I have run into so far with trying to use Radiant: - Databases - How do I integrate the databases I have into radiant? Without being able to do this, I can't use Radiant! - Authentication - for the site I am building I am using CAS authentication and I need to be able to build this functionality into Radiant or figure out if I can use the same filters I got when I got it working with rails. Also a must-have for this project. - The last question I have is that if Rails can interface with MS SQL 2005, should Radiant also? If I can figure out these questions it would seriously help me to decide if Radiant is right for me. Re: [Radiant] Is Radiant CMS right for me?
Hi Cody, Radiant doesn't care what DB you're using, rails takes care of that. In order for you to interact with arbitrary tables, you will want to write your own extensions. Extensions add normal rails controllers, models, views etc. so if you have good rails experience you should pick it up just fine. With regards to CAS authentication, I have no idea. -Arthur ___ Radiant mailing list Post: Radiant@radiantcms.org Search: http://radiantcms.org/mailing-list/search/ List Site: http://lists.radiantcms.org/mailman/listinfo/radiant Radiant: http://radiantcms.org Extensions: http://ext.radiantcms.org
Re: [Radiant] Is Radiant CMS right for me?
Great, I figured the solution might have something to do with extensions. I guess I will run through some tutorials and see what I can do in the extensions department for integrating my own arbitrary databases. Thanks Arthur! [Radiant] htaccess questions
Hi, I have been trying to set up htaccess in a certain way for some time now. Is the following possible? Given: Radiant installation: /rails/radiant/NAME domain: website.com Subdomain set up to point to NAME: NAME.website.com symlinked to /rails/radiant/NAME (index.html removed from the subdomain's folder) Type in NAME.website.com and you go to the Rails/Radiant app, and all the internal links work properly. type in website.com/NAME, and you get the app, but it has lost its styling and Rails/Radiant cannot resolve the links. type in www.website.com/NAME and you get the public_html directory listing. What I'd like to be able to do is have www.website.com redirect to the application at the subdomain NAME. Here are my htaccess rewrite lines. Like I said, they handle the subdomain-to-app mapping. I'd like to link www to the app or, in other words, make the subdomain the 'default' and behave like it is sitting in the public_html folder. My understanding is that this is possible and quite common, but I can't find documentation that explains this common functionality. .htaccess== RewriteRule ^$ index.html [QSA] RewriteRule ^([^.]+)$ $1.html [QSA] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f #RewriteRule ^images/.*.(jpg|gif|png|bmp)$ /blank.$1 [NC,L] #RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^(.*)$ dispatch.fcgi [QSA,L] setEnv RAILS_ENV production RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.website.com$ [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.NAME.website.com$ [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^name.website.com$ RewriteRule ^/?$ http\:\/\/website\.com\/NAME\/ [R=301,L] Feel free to point out my flawed logic or obvious mistakes. are you using the 0.7.1 tag or the master branch? if the latter you might try switching to the former and running the migrate/update commands by hand. You need to use the 0.7.1 tag of the extension, if you are running radiant 0.7.1 So I don't think you can use script/extension install, but will need to pull from github.
