Danny,
I intend to upgrade to Rails 2.1 for the next release. We should have
minimal compatibility problems, with the exception of maybe the
extension loader.

Is there any value in updating the rails gem? It didn't sound too risky
from the update summary on the blog; then again, it didn't sound all
that exciting either ;-)
