Have a play with the Random Mix plugin and then select song mix. Though
this wont be based against a playlist like you are after.
Or if you are into MusicIP, you can also use my plugin and have a
random song each day from a specified genre, which is what wakes me up
each day :)

I think the main reason is to have a backup server (mysb.com) in case
your pc goes down. The radio still then has some functionality via
mysb.com if your sbs server is down

I had to turn radio on then off whilst server was on for symbol to now
appear, I fully expect radio to come on tomorrow.

So this answers my previous question.
Radio just caches the next alarm within the next 24 hours.
If it isn't turned on at least once on sunday it doesn't know about a
Monday alarm.
Thus:
- won't send a WOL to wakeup server
- won't sound t
I have an interesting variant on this...
alarm set for Mon - Fri BBC R5 via SBS
Fri-radio wakes server and alarm works fine, alarm switches off after
45mins and server hibernates
PC server not switched on again all weekend as I was away.
Sun evening-no alarm symbol
Mon-no alarm not even back
To add to snarly's comments..
45 seconds from true OFF to playing sounds about right.
But from Standby, hit the Play button, it is almost instantaneous.
In some instances, like being in Standby over night, it may need to
re-buffer the stream which may increases playback time to maybe 4
seconds.

Sorry if this has been asked before:
I've read that this radio needs 45 seconds to start up. I presume this
includes the time to make the handshake with the WiFi system. Is this
timing accurate? 45 seconds seems a long time to wait for it to burst
into life.

Just to be clear, you did set the Alarm volume from inside the Alarm
settings, correct?
Radio > Settings > Alarm Clock > Alarm Volume
Radio ignores the regular Volume setting from the Volume knob when the
Alarm goes off.

it still turns itself back on after a minute - how do I know? - well the
volume for the alarm was loud - so I turned the volume down and then at
7:01am the volume went back up again!
Also I have had the alarm on since 7am and it has yet to turn itself
off after the 1 hour limit - it is now 8:25am
