I brought the squeezebox radio last week and I'm having problems with
wifi. When turned off over night and switched back on the next day it
looses wifi conection the icon is red and when looking at the signal
strength under choose networks it is gray - no signal.
However if left for about 5 -
By chance is your SSID (name of your WiFi) hidden?
If yes, try disabling that on the router, set it to YES: BROADCAST
SSID.
See if that helps the Radio see your WiFi quicker.

even when i am connected via ethernet, the radio crashes to the default
alarm after 2 minutes. I think I've got a lemon. I'd like to try a new
one.

Did you redo the network setup ? Just plugin the cable wont make it use
ethernet if previusly
