As you realized, it's not PoE, it's EoP. ;)
I use Netgear XAV-2001 HomePlugs myself, they're about as fast as
802.11g and much more stable. (In my setup. YMMV, of course.)
Since stability is much more important than speed in a Squeezebox
setup, the HomePlug solution is often a good one. But if
No, the Radio doesn't have karaoke functionality. If you have a
microphone with line level output, you can plug it in the Radio and use
it, but you can't stream simultaneously.
Maybe there's a hack for it somewhere, but I haven't heard of it.

Hi everyone,
I'm considering byuing a Squeezebox Radio for my 7 years old daughter.
I have however one question. As most (all?) girls in that age, she
loves to sing. So when she gets her Squeezebox, she'll probably want to
plug a microphone in.
Is that supported? I mean having some music played
No, none of the SBs have karaoke capabilities, thank heavens.

Well, I've tried very hard, but I can find no blemish on the box that
has just arrived. Perhaps I've missed something, but very welcome
nevertheless !

The Touch actually have a built-in microphone, I've tried it by logging
in via ssh but unfortunately the quality was not too good:

Would probably be possible to use for sending messages but not likely
for karaoke as that probably only works
Hi erland,
So you mean one can write an applet that runs on the squeezebox itself.
That's interesting. I thought plugins were only for the server software.
I certainly need to read more about squeezebox.
Do you know what programming language can be used for that? C++, Java,
Python? Also do you

These 'blemished boxes' come around all the time, I got a Harmony 900
for £110, usually £250+. I don't think I'd ever pay

Just a random thought:
If you're going to write a karaoke applet, you may also want to
phase-shift one channel of the stream 180 degrees before presenting the
mix in mono. That will eliminate most of the lead vocals, as they tend
to be placed in the center of the stereo image.
Doing this at

Am interested in this exact same thing, setting up a podcast as an
alarm. The link provided does't work anymore. I know this thread is a
bit old, but the code you used to get this to work would be really cool
to have.

I read your post as I woke up to the latest episode of the This week in
