AFAICT, the problems that some people have seen with SBS/MySB
preference syncing has to do with *automatic* preference syncing -- the
automatic mechanism would replace good settings with bad ones when it
should not. A manual mechanism shouldn't have such problems -- if the
player's prefs are only reset when someone clicks a Submit button on
the SBS Web interface, then all you would have to worry about are
PEBCAK errors. :-)

Seems like they would need to get pref syncing figured out first before
they could even begin to work on an enhancement request like that.
Right now it's really badly broken. We have alarms, display settings,
player names, even the time being randomly set on various players.
There are one or two threads started in the forums each day about such
problems and a dozen or more bugs on file.

That is the current design of Radio & SBS. SBS 7.5 beta is no different
in this respect.

You are correct, many player settings on the Radio are only available on
menu directly on the Radio and not through the SBS web interface.

It's possible to support central configuration in future firmware and
SBS upgrades, it just depends if Logitech decides to prioritize it or
not. The current decision is probably based on the fact that most users
only have a single player which makes other features more important than
central configuration.

[SlimDevices: Radio] Central configuration management via SBS

2010-03-28 Thread saurus

Hi all,

I'm wondering if it's correct that for the SBR are only very limited
configuration options in SBS for the Player configuration. For example
you cannot configure the menu structure of SBR centrally.

Do I miss something over here, or is this per design? Or do I have to
wait for a new firmware/server release?

Regards, Torsten
