Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Alarm goes off an hour late

2010-01-31 Thread benthos

I created a new alarm, and it worked in a test(!). Just to be safe, I
removed my old alarms and recreated them. Maybe it really was just a
problem with the Readynas. Thanks again.

Please, use NTP! And look for the logs in your firewall for blocked
attempts at outbound connections on port 123/udp. That's the server port
for NTP.

Maybe I missed the obvious: there is also a TZ setting in
mysqueezebox.com, in the players list.

The correct current offset is UTC-7.

Good luck ;)

It gives me a drop-down box for timezone, and it's set to GMT -7:00
Mountain time. I don't see a DST setting, but it sounds like -7 hours
is correct. I also checked my router (a Linksys wrt54g) and it's shows
an identical setting, and it has an option checked for "automatically
adjust clock for daylight savings time". There's no mention of DST for
the Readynas.

I can't tell, the time settings are really basic. One new thing I'm
going to try, though: it has an option for synchronizing the clock with
an NTP server. I'll try it with that setting turned on and see if it
works. Thanks for the help.

I wonder if it's a USA Daylight Savings Time setting somewhere?

Mountain Time should be UTC-7 in winter, and UTC-6 in summer.
Is the date correct in the machine(s) ? Is there a DST setting
somewhere ?

Can you see how the hardware (CMOS) clock saves the time on the server
? All systems store time as UTC, except of course Windows which prefers
storing local time in the hardware clock. Use UTC if you can, the OS
will do the math according to your definition of locale/tz.

Thanks for the reply.. the Readynas has the correct timezone and time.
Also, usually I'm using the mysqueezebox.com radio broadcasts, and the
timezone is set correctly on there, too. I don't understand what it
could be.

Where did you check the timezone ?

You need to check it on your ReadyNas ... (see
