Anything over 40mm and I would feel like I am on a dirt bike.
Have you actually tried a Hetre?

I fit 58 (right between 7-1/8 and 7-1/4) and which lets me find good buys
on old fedoras, but the hat doesn't look terribly adjustable. Otherwise, I
like it. Honestly, a Medium is not going to fit too many women.

After all the discussion of long-distance rides, I was inspired to
post on our blog about a typical ride. Like Grant's S24O camping
trips, most of our rides don't go far from home, yet there is a lot of
fun to be had. To me, the long adventures are like eight-course meals:

I don't read Bike Snob NYC regularly but I was checking the site this

I had seen that ad before. It is very cute.
The highlight Riv-content of that BSNYC in my opinion, was Eben labelling
Cornell as the MicroShift of the Ivy League.

I'm selling my 93 Bridgestone 52cm XO-1. I picked it up a few years ago,
rode it for the summer then decided to have it powdercoated. Upon removing
the mass quantities of reflective tape, I discovered crash damage in the
form of a small ripple to the top tube and downtube. I went ahead and had

At this point I must give a personal Thank You to Grant Petersen for keeping

If this develops into a thread about civility, politeness, and profanity, can
it please be done offlist?

Looking for a friendly non-race (if that even exists) LBS is the Scottsdale
AZ area. I'm going to be shipping a bike down to my niece in Scottsdale and
need to find a friendly shop that is not to focused on racing especially
mountain.
Thanks!

A bit of fun since surely I'm not the only one who's been prompted to
enter a $300 order this month and tempted to dream of what I'll ask
Grant to cook up for me if I win.
My order (placing tonight, destination is a V.O. Polyvalent I scored
on fleabay.):
2 Conti 650b 54mm tires
2 tubes for 'em

Well, I was thinking of doing a 350 buck gift certificate or placing an
order for a Roadeo frame. I don't know which one I will do though.

If you buy a Roadeo you won't be sorry.
BTW, speaking of orders, what do people recommend for tires for their
Roadeos? I need to put together an order of my own.

Not yet.
I have been thinking about getting them for long rides. Maybe that will
convince me. I know I will enjoy the speed of them.
I am not saying I don't believe what everyone is saying about them being
an almost punctureless tire. I just have to expand my comfort level I guess.
There is no such thing as a punctureless tire, why ride around on some
belted, heavy tires unless you have to though? I think alot of that market
is people who think they have to ride those tires or else. If you are in
goathead counrty is one thing but for most of a flat every now and then
isnt

I don't have a Roadeo but I have its country cousin, Legolas. I really like

Haven't purchased yet, but I'm thinking of buying the following:
Wheelset
V brakes - but I notice that Rivendell seems to not be selling these right now
Brake pad inserts for Silvers
Some Big Ben 700 x 35 tires
Aluminum Bosco Bar if they get them in
12-36 cassette
A front derailleur
Maybe
Now those are the rides I like. Three/Four hour ride through the
local hills, along the trails...take off in the morning and have the
afternoon free for something else. I try to get out one or two weeks
during the summer and go somewhere camping or visiting but those
little rides are a nice break
I'm thinking of a Sam Hunqa-Pilson that converts into a kayak and I
can float down the river. I'm not sure it's possible :(
