I bought a Clem L 59 Frameset and all the parts for it, only problem is I
don't have a space or the tools or the knowledge to set it up. Hoping
someone on here who has set up rivs before could potentially help me.
Thanks, Gabe.

I suppose me saying "thinks you like" was too ambiguous. I meant to say
you'd have a conversation and based on it Grant would make the call.
We're talking about the same thing here.

Correct. The whole point of getting a custom Riv is Grant can decide dimensions
and tubing weight based on your size and riding style. So, for instance, if you
can get away with a thinner-tubed San Marcos, he'll have Nobilette build it and
Joe Bell paint it. All it takes is time and money!

Well played, Sean!
That looks like an excellent choice for a lightweight "one bike". Enjoy!

Update!
Thanks to everyone for the replies! This garnered more responses than I
expected, and the discussion was extremely helpful.
I've decided to go in a non-rivish direction for this bike. I think at my
weight, and with the riding I want to do, a lightweight tubing with low
trail is more
Igor - that’s not even remotely true. If you explain to him what you want and
how you want it he’ll either say yes or no. Look to recent Legolas and Roadeos
as examples. GP clearly edges towards stouter than not but has designed some
lighter bikes as well.
I mean you’d just sell the custom

Lucky for you, you don't get to decide. Grant will pick what he thinks
you'll like and you just need to fork over the $$$

I've been thinking about ordering a Riv custom. I love my Soma San Marcos.
The San Marco is by far the best fitting, best handling bike I've ever
ridden...but it's pretty stiff vertically. (I was 220 pounds when I first
got it some 4 years ago, and now weight 180, so that stiffness is
I’ve been tempted to try the basket bag from Wald. Doesn’t look fancy but like
their baskets, I’m sure it does the job. I currently just stuff things in and
secure with a net which works but sometimes I think a bag would be nice. At
around $35 it’s a pretty low risk trial.

I'll suggest the Acorn Basket Tote in case you're unfamiliar with it:

It doesn't have outside storage compartments, but I think it meets your
other criteria (depending on how "generous" you want the volume to be) and

I’m 185+ pounds, and I’ve taken my canti Sam on some short mixed-road tours
pretty well loaded up and have had no problems whatsoever. It ends up a bit
“noodly,” perhaps, but not beyond what I can get used to. It is a ton of fun to
ride unloaded, too, and it fits 47/48 mm tires nicely. You

ClembaSack? I guess it doesn't match all your requests - only one inner pocket,
grab handles not shoulderable - but it's a nice bag that fits.
