Absolutely build your own wheels. I was sceptical a few years ago but was
encouraged by a workmate to do it. Now have several sets with 1000s of
kilometres on them.
I highly recommend Roger Musson’s ebook on wheel building. Includes guides
on making your own tools and excellent building
Wait, we're plugging helmets into bikes now?? I'm not sure having yourself
tethered to it in a get off is a good idea!

Hi David
If you are using the FixedGear toot calculator, I found it to be off by 2
teeth when I was setting up my Lemond Zurich as a single speed. Just
checked, don't have a 45 t ring.

I love reading this thread. Its great. My first wheelbuild was for my
dirtbike, going from an 18 inch to 21 inch front wheel. Rode the heck out
of it. IIRC cross 2, MC shop calculated the spoke length, stock drum brake
hub laced to an Akront rim. I think I was 14 or 15 at the time. About 15
Kai, ha! I AM a convert to dyno. As to this Vio helmet, I doubt it plugs into
the hub - I do know it uses a USB charger. If it does plug into a hub, I don’t
know that mine allows it. I have a Shutter Precision, if that means anything to
anyone.
I’m admittedly NOT excited about charging my
Nope, I saw that they only had five to begin with. Still a much better
ratio than the sad 58cm to 68cm frame availability.

You're seeing 5 of the longer head set tool still in stock? All my
computers (so not a browser refresh issue) show both sizes out of stock
since not long after the newsletter hit.

Beautiful quickbeams, everyone. I've always wanted one... unfortunately, I
was 10 years old when they were produced. I have no doubt if Riv released
this model without tinkering with it (especially in orange), they'd be able
to sell at least a hundred through preorders.
Miles, I think I sort

And +1 on Joe's preference for black. And vents, many more vents.

I've really noticed some helmets recently with lit yield triangles in back.
Like, Really noticed. Very smart.
But if it isn't dyno powered, it's a no go, I'm too lazy to charge much of
anything.

Yeah, this would get me the fistful of seatpost that's so very desirable..
and, like the seller says, it would be a custom order now, so maybe someone
will bite. I would if I could, but if I could I'd likely get the custom
it's only slightly cheaper than.
The real question is- Who's got a
I love that helmet! The lights are great, especially since you ride at
night so much...Joe approved!
I'm kind of an anti-helmet matcher, I use matte black which goes with
everything. But I'm crazy about the gray/red on my custom and am tempted to
become a helmet matcher for it.
On Saturday,
I know the easy solution is to use a shim and open the doors to all the
threadless stem options but I suppose the hunt is for aesthetics. I like
the look of a skinny stem paired to skinny lugged frames too much not to at
least ask.
So if anyone's holding an old 1 inch threadless stem in the
Thanks Jason. Now I have the Brooks back on it..

Cheers Roberta & Leah; this doesn't bode well for my chances of jumping on
the Charlie wagon in the new year but I'm quite pleased with the current

I had been saving my original Nutcase red and white polka dot helmet. I
bought it a million years ago in 2012 when I got my Betty Foy. I thought it
was one of the cutest helmets I had ever seen. I rarely wore it.
But this year I set an ambitious cycling goal (made it in early Oct. and

Another miss but Paul, can you tell me if the Frost River Sawbill Trail Bag

Yeah I wiped out on the rat traps while cornering as well I had it at 19psi
super plush but wide tires definitely increase the turn radius on lower
pressure.

I like my switchback hills more than the wtb horizons they replaced, though
I've heard the parimotos are pretty supple.
I still wipe out all the time going around corners. Apparently the 48mm tires
with low pressure don't corner as well as the 32mm tires on my other bike :-/

Wow! That is really a tall bike -- makes my 67-68 cm bikes look puny!
;)
A decent Riv-standard build, with a few minor cosmetic issues -- at a $3750
ask I think the seller is perhaps a bit too ambitious, but on the other
hand 71 cm frames are not exactly common, so...
