I ride a large (56) Susie and it fits perfectly. I'm 5'10" with an 87.5 PBH and 75-76 saddle height. My PBH:reach ratio is a little off, so I run a 30mm reach stem with my preferred trail riding bars to keep me a little more upright. I've ridden the 53 and it was definitely too small. I
