This really sucks. I live in the same apartment building as the
victim, and I was the person who set up the bike racks. There were at
least five bikes stolen, along with some wheels and one saddle+post.
The bikes were all locked to the racks, some with cables plus u-locks,
others with u-locks. The
Hi all. I'm curious what other owners of smaller Rivs use as frame
pumps. I have a 54cm Quickbeam and it fits neither a Zefal Hpx nor a
Silca Impero. The space on the head tube between the top tube and down
tube is so small that the ends of the pumps can't reach the head tube
peg. Thanks in advance
Hi Joe. I understand your sentiment as my first response was something
similar. But then I remembered that I have quite a few friends in the
trades. I'm sure they would much rather be payed for the craftsmanship
they provided, rather than having to take something in barter and
spending their own wo

Hi Anne. Yeah, it was fun to have all of these bikes on the roadway.
There's a bakery in Point Reyes Station (Bovine Bakery) that, if
you're not familiar with it, is quite the stop for weekend cyclists.
It was great to see so many racked and sacked bikes there, lined up
along with the Cervelos and
Hi Rene. Jim sums it up nicely. I'll chip in by saying that speed on
the bike does not have to be great. But, speed while off the bike is
critical. The saying we came up with in our post-mortem over beers was
"every minute off the bike is a minute you may need to make up while
on the bike."
We did
I keep following up on Jim's posts (sorry, Jim!). The populaire was a
blast! A lot of Riv eye-candy, as well. It was good to see our Chief
List Dude, as well as other contributors, like Ron Lau and Joe Bunik.
Most of all, it was just plain fun, and my group even made it across

I have a B-17 Special on my Quickbeam and a Berthoud Aspin (touring
model) on my multi-geared bike.

Hi Rene. The SONdelux was formerly known as SON 20R. That particular
dyno hub can be oriented in either direction.

Hi Steve. I think you are in for a real treat when, down the line, you
try out your first 38mm or so 650B tire. I feel so much difference
between my old sets of Nifty Swiftys and the Soma B-lines, Hetres, and
Lierres--even the Col de la Vies.
On that note, I recommend the Grand Bois Lierres as a f
Hi TS. You probably already know this, but note what tires you're testing
with the Sam. I find noticeable differences in the way my Quickbeam feels
climbing when I switch among 32, 38, and 42mm tires, even though all of
these are "supple sidewall"-type tires.
Have fun!

I know that every person must make up their own minds about such things, but
I have to throw in here that I've seen several standard-colored
Atlantises/Atlanti(?) in the wild in full touring mode, and they are
spectacular looking. I have a great stable of bikes right now, which fit my
