I've raced, repaired bikes at an LBS, travelled far and ride under all types of
conditions, and ride to work daily on my 15yo lugged steel bikes. (Bridgestone
and Bianchi - saving up for a Riv.) It has been rare that I've encountered
among cyclists uncouth behavior such as you describe. I
that bring the Old West to mind. There are
plenty of great synonyms out there for the cowboy, as well. Would
even focus on his horse - Palomino, anyone? I wouldn't mind Vaquero,
or Gaucho, either

Nitto Bigs, front and back, if you have the money. Strong; versatile; shelves
and side supports. They can handle almost any challenge.

What a nice bike. Superb job on the build. The VO stuff looks great.
Thanks so much for posting.

So I had posted first impressions earlier in the week. I promised

I'm with you there. It's a great publication but the real world
tests are petty hokey-kind of like some high-school science fair
project. The fork deflection test was the best of all with the things
that looked like soda syrup cans used as weights. The roll test down
the little ramp was dumb
After posting a comment on the Sam as a Mtn bike I checked out the
Atlantis info. Is this bike now limited to 61cm?

I have a 67 AHH set-up as a rando-type bike, but an Atlantis can take
some big rubber. I like the B-dil but that double top tube-I don't
know. I wouldn't even get that on a 69 AHH-not necessary. Maybe on
some future run they will bring in the 64-66-68 Atlantis. A 61 might
make a decent mtn bike
The bike (Riv) that will do all you're asking would be the Atlantis.
Plenty of tire clearance, 29er/26er depending on frame size. I'd like
to be able to set one up w/ a 26 rear, 29 front, w/ drop bars, regular
canti's etc-that would be fun. Really more of the 80's style mtn bike
than the
Aren't these bags made in China? Maybe I'm wrong on that one. If
not, isn't there a domestic source for this type of bag? You know,
spend your dollars at home and such? Not trying to pee on anyone's
good time, but it's kind of relevant, no?
