one other place latex tubes will get you. If you have a tire cut that goes through the casing, they will balloon out and pop. For this reason, it's good to carry a butyl tube, which is not elastic enough to do this, and will get you home. ps - the weak beads is why I finally gave up on

nothing "really, now" about it. Latex tubes were the first. They go hand-in-hand with supple tires - they already come in the best fine-casing tubulars (sew-ups). they were also in every pneumatic tire

Alas, still none apparently in 559 or 571 sizes, though -- the triathlon/650C sites all agree that the only latex in 26" are in tubulars. I wonder if the very light (70 gram) Michelin butyls are as/almost as good? And there is this, which I may try: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pr2zEulcqNE

New to the supple tube zeitgeist and was wondering: 1. Really?!?! First supple tires and now supple tubes? ;) 2. Is their any research on safety of butyl vs. latex? Specifically with flats resulting in catastrophic tears? Like does a simple puncture in latex develop into a blowout tear faster

they transform even the smaller sizes of Compass EL tires (or any fine casing/ supple tires) - they run quieter and that, by definition, means the run faster, because noise is kinetic energy being lost by the tire. They also reward lower pressures - they actually become too bouncy at too high
