I believe the 55 has a shorter 57.5 cm effective top tube versus the 59 cm top
tube on the 56. I'm not 100% positive on those specs however.

I was about to purchase a 55cm Sam Hillborne from Rivendell. However, I
may have the opportunity to purchase an older 56cm Hillborne for a
substantial savings. I have test ridden the 55 and thought it felt great
but the savings is hard to dismiss. Does anyone know how the geometry
changed
