+1 on the VP and Sabot pedals. I own both but the VPs are my go to pedals on
several of my bikes. Nice secure grip

I have found that larger flat pedals with aggressive pins (VO Sabot, VP001)
give me more connection, retention and flexibility in my pedaling than half
clips did. Half clips felt like more work to keep my foot engaged in than
benefit that I was given.

Dan, thanks for the generous offer on the VO clips, but I think if I want
to try these then I'll just pick some up today at my LBS so that I can use
them on my weekend ride.

riding on just the bare MKS touring pedals -no clips or straps. Just free.

I run Bruce Gordon half clips with White Industries pedals and like them. Did
not want to mess with straps or head into step-in pedals and shoes and all that
involves.
Somewhere in my parts bin there is a set of the VO half clips if you are
interested. Just cover postage.
