Ha! ... and now the speculation also begins on Hodges B. Gallop. I’m selfishly
hoping it’d be equivalent to an Appabeam/Quickaloosa and available in a tall
64cm size... maybe with drum brakes though. Just kidding (about the drum
brakes.). Haha.

Found this in the blurb for the upcoming Film Ride at John formerly @ Riv's
Rivelo shop in Oregon
"Sorry to all those who either hate cameras or don't live in or around
Portland, but John's organized this event with Will and Roman on some coming
Saturday. You can grill Roman and Will on why
Cool stuff. Thanks for sharing. As much as I love the Compass, I am having a
hard time plopping down $130 after shipping just for 2 standard casing tires.
Most of the hard to find classic Riv tires are listed for just under $30 with
some at $17 and change. $18.40 5-7 day shipping to the US
That's just odd on so many levels. But the "in the spirit of Rivendell, we
added a 25.5mm tire" statement takes the prize.
Is this for real? All the spelling errors make my spoof spider senses tingle.

I got a marketing email from one of the large online bike part shops that
is now selling Rivendell tires. I'll refrain from sharing the links, but
the ad copy is too good not to post:

While riding my Ram this morning I crossed paths with a couple going the
opposite direction. The man, riding a Co-Motion road bike slowed down and
shouts to me, Hey, I used to have one of those! In response, I yelled
back, One of what?, to which he replied, A Schwinn Varsity!
I said, Did you
Hi all:
Here, at least I think, is a pretty funny story. I was riding in
Sparkill, NY today going up a short but steep hill on my Rambouillet
set up in credit card touring mode. A guy on a Trek Madone pulls
along side me, and with a hint of condensation says, Wow, nice bell
on that bike,
I've found that bell to be effective about 90% of the time against the dogs
that run out after me on country rides. Less effective with small children, who
won;t pay attention, no matter what...
I think your horn might be a dog attractor, actually..

Jay,
You gotta send this story to Maynard Hershon. (It even connects a bit to his
first story in RR42.)

Horns are great as a small-child pleaser as I wheel my Rivendell commuter
thru local grocery stores. (Mom! Look! There's a bike! Honk! Grin!)
Haven't tried farting at them, tho' I expect that would raise a few laffs,
too.

Hi Everyone,
I thought I'd share a comical moment from my morning commute:
I was riding alongside another commuter (he on a Specialized Roubaix Carbon
bike, me on my Riv) when he looked my bike over and asked what that extra tube
was for. What extra tube? I asked. The one under the top tube.
