It weighs no more than a comparably sized Ortlieb pannier: more than 2 lbs, I'd say. Can't say if it is waterproof. The old Nelson Longflaps were as waterproof as plastic buckets. In respect of quality and useful carrying capacity for the volume, it is the very best bar none that I have used,
