I just took delivery of a new AHH and I picked up a Nigel Smythe
Country Bag and Mark's Rack to go with it. I noticed that the bag is a
bit different than the ones I've seen on Flickr and on RivBike.com. I
asked about it and was told it was a new design. Instead of having the
tab and post fasteners on the main compartment is just has regular
buckles. It still has the tab/post style on the side pockets though.

Also, on the rear, instead of horizontally-oriented straps it has
vertically-oriented straps. So, it appears that you can no longer just
loop the strap around the vertical part of the Mark's Rack or around
your seatpost. How have those of you with the new design attached the
lower portion of the rear of the bag? (Assuming others have the
redesigned bag.) I was thinking of rigging some zip ties to the Mark's
Rack. I can't understand why they changed that. Any ideas?

And one other question - I notice that some bags seem to have the
riveted leather patch beneath the logo patch for a "blinky" and some
don't. Have people received the bag without that part or have they
removed them? I'd like to remove it since I'm not going to attach
anything to it, but I wonder if it will leave two large holes where
the rivets were.
