Silver braided when I have the foresight to order some or can find it locally.
My LBS uses gray as there standard cable-by-the-foot. Good for when I gotta
impatiently run cables.

Schwinn KOM? Nice. I remember that frame hanging in the Schwinn shop, and
my friend Will still had one 15 years later. Will is a welder and
fabricator, and can make any bike he wants, so I always thought that was a
telling endorsement of the KOM.

Green housing on the Quickbeam. I've only ever had silver ferrules, but I
suppose brass would be nice.
Black is classic. Gray would look good on a silver frame. I've used red and
orange where (in)appropriate.

I put white on my blue/white Giordana when I tuned her up this year. Looks
great on that classic racer. But I used the grey housing on my Riv, and
black on my Schwinn KOM. I like the grey because it doesn't stand out but
looks nice.

Perry you can have any color cable housing as long as it's black and any color
ferrules as long as they're silver because that's what I buy and stock in bulk

Noticed that Riv builds have gray housing with brass ferrules. Was
wondering why they use that combo.
Seems like it stands out less on a bike than black housing does. What a
cool idea.
