"I guess the Susie is worth hanging onto. ;-) "
Hehe, it is. I have a 53 I bought for an ebike conversion I then decided
not to do, and now I'm not sure why I need a custom *and *a Susie. But
every time I try to talk myself into selling it I go for a ride and talk
myself right back out it!
Turns our the seller backed out anyway, so it's moot at this point. Thanks
for feedback, though. I guess the Susie is worth hanging onto. ;-)

Its pretty much a new price with a free crank. If it were me I would
probably wait for new ones to come in but if you need one now there aren't
many out there so paying top dollar seems to be the name of the game.

Yes and Riv timelines were meaningless *before *a worldwide frames/parts
shortage during a bike boom. If you see a used Riv you like and you can
possibly justify the price, *buy it. *

Supposedly, a new batch is coming late this year so I would factor that in
if there's any concern about its used-ness, but if it's a local pickup (ie
no shipping on top of that cost), a 'free' Silver 2pc crankset for the
price of a new frameset would be alright by my COVID boom-adjusted
There's a Susie and Cheviot on SF Bay Craigslist that are probably
optimistically priced, but a complete 45cm Clem L listed at $1600 is gone.
I'll bet they got at or near asking price, which is about what a new one
costs.

Probably where the market is for the Gus + Susie right now: long production
schedule, new Riv model so not a big used market, no real comparable
designs so hard to find an alternative, and the people who have them tend
to hold onto them. Maybe ask the seller if they could include other parts
A year ago I would have balked but now? The worldwide bike/parts shortage
has created an insane market which has dramatically affected used Riv
prices, most of which are unavailable new from them right now. So yeah, if
the frame isn't all scratched to heck it's fair. Someone will pay that.
Is this for an entire bike or a frameset with bb, headset and crankset? If
the latter, I would say it is a bit high as you can find plenty of used
framesets for less. Of course, YMMV! Good Luck!
