Cog spacing, it was narrower than the other 7- and 8-speed groups. In fact, I think you can click-shift 7/8 Dura-Ace with 9-speed shifters. On Friday, March 29, 2013 8:56:21 AM UTC-7, Patrick Moore wrote: I know that, up to a certain point -- 7 speed or 8 speed -- Dura Ace indexing was

Joe -- thanks. I just found this: http://sheldonbrown.com/dura-ace.html Which, being interpreted, saith (at least methinks it saith) that thou canst index any 5 mm-spaced Shimano cogset with a pre-1997 Dura Ace rd as long as thou havest / we/you/they have the matched shifters. Or maybe saith it

Uhh..beats me, Patrick. Sheldon's answer - and he clearly knew his stuff - is much more complicated than mine, and I'm now utterly confused. Good luck, young man! On Friday, March 29, 2013 9:17:17 AM UTC-7, Patrick Moore wrote: Joe -- thanks. I just found this:

Going off on a tangent. I have a Dura-Ace Uniglide hub. The first and second position cogs are DA Uniglide. The remaining cogs and spacers are 7-speed Hyperglide (wide spline filed down). It all fits on the hub just fine. I've made indexed shifting work with a non-DA shifter and derailer, but

No, it was the amount of cable pulled for each shift that was different prior to the introduction of 9-speed SIS. The cog spacing was the same between Dura-ace and other shimano cassettes with the same number of cogs. See http://sheldonbrown.com/dura-ace.html. On 30/03/13 03:00, Joe Bernard
