Update: I sanded the grips on my Albatross bars and rubbed in/ melted with my hands the bear grease (4 coconut oil : 1 beeswax). Of course it is a high of freezing today, so they won't absorb much, but given warmer days and a few more light applications, and they should be good to go. On my wee

While I've never tried beeswax, oil or similar, I also dislike the hard, slick results that three or more fresh coats of shellac produce, so here's my solution. Try brushing on a coat of shellac, let it dry fully (doesn't take long), then knock it back with a rag soaked in denatured alcohol.
