I was in Austin last summer - took my Bike Friday with me and had a great time. It's a very bike-friendly city. Probably the most notable bike shop in town is Mellow Johnny's, which is at least partly owned by he-who-must-not-be-named. There is a pretty nice multi-use (bike and hike) trail
