They are not pre-drilled and Honjo hardware is pretty adaptable. You
may want to call Soma, but I bet you can make them work fine.

I am hoping that myself. Weathered brass is very special.

With the look of the brass and the all the leather and such
accessories as hempen twine and waxed canvas, not to mention wool and
steel, have we predated the Steampunk genre, or merely created a
subgenre?

But wouldn't you agree those brass fenders would like mighty nice on
the flat black Bombadill featured in a thread a while back?
Brass was used on steamships not because it was fancy, but because it
lasts. Sure brass is heavier than other
You might have just talked me into it. That was my Bombadil you
mentioned, and I was just debating fenders lately. Now it's between
brass and the VO Zeppelins, which I think are pretty cool.
I'm leaning toward brass...

Cool.
The Zeppelins are pretty nice as well. My first fenders were
hammered. I have since come to prefer the smooth or fluted look.
Brass, especially as it weathers provides a most interesting
variation.

If I'm lucky, Honjo will deliver on the brass fluted fenders they have
out there as prototypes. Smooth is fine, but the ridges (wrinkles/
facets?) may age more gracefully. Brass Zeppelins would get my money
today!

It depends on how thick they make the fender. According
I think Wiki's a bit off on the metal densities. This chart:

would make sense, as both copper and zinc (the two elements that make
up most of brass) have higher atomic numbers and
I know there are wooden fenders out there. Does anyone make titanium
fenders? Carbon fiber/kevlar/Spectra composite?
Berthoud makes carbon fiber fenders.
