For what it's worth, I'm in exactly the same situation on the next size up.
I'm 6'-2", which is supposed to be right in the middle of fit range for
the 59, but the standover is too high for how I wanted to use it too. In
my case, which is probably like you, that was as a casual, around-town,
thanks for the measurement. might be a bit big for the type of riding i was
planning, will have to think of something else!

Just measured mine on the stock tires from (Kenda Kwik Seven-5 27.5 x 1.75)
and the brocure is spot on at 31.5 in standover.

You
Must be a typo. Here's the suggested fit from the 'L' version page:
45cm / 26-inch traditional mountain bikey size wheels.
Typical rider height: 5-0 to 5-5
52cm / 27.5-inch new mountain bikey size wheels.
Typical rider height: 5-5 to 5-11

I'm 79pbh, 5'-7", and the 52 fit great with the stock Bosco bars. I think
someone slightly shorter could ride it, by 5'-0” ?? I suspect that's a typo.

Interesting. I am 5'8" with a 31.5 PBH. And that is quite a range.

thanks, i was trying to find the brochure. that's interesting because riv's
site says the 52cm clem is good for riders 5' - 5'11". with a 31.5"
standover, that seems pretty optimistic.
