Copper goes dark brown and stays that way for a long time before going green. That is a problem. Copper lasts so much longer than cotton. It will take forever for the coating to wear off. The change in color to its final patina will take even longer. By the time the wire reaches its magnum

Haha! The copper outlasting the cotton is okay, and it is probably infinitely reusable. Unless you have to snip a piece to unwind it, in which case you might only get 10 to 40 years out of the wire, depending on how much you have to snip. If you wanted it green, you could probably lightly sand the

Great idea Philip! I was thinking (this is where the trouble usually starts!) that with some larger diameter, uninsulated copper wire one could wrap the entire bar. With un-coated copper the beausage should start in short order... Angus On Apr 11, 8:01 pm, Philip Williamson

Pretty clever. That turned out well. Copper gets a nice dark green patina after a while. It will be neat to watch it slowly change its appearance. On Apr 11, 8:01 pm, Philip Williamson philip.william...@gmail.com wrote: I just re-twined my handlebars with copper wire, and put up a little

Crystal radio handlebars! I think the great thing about crystal radios is you don't even need a battery, right? It does look good with the copper rivets on the Brooks. This wire must be coated, because the first wrap has only gotten a bit darker, but not green. Green would be okay, too. I think
