7-speed (the one it starts on plus 6 clicks). Friction definitely works.

I have 123mm of smooth-spinning goodness, with thread rings and loctite,
plus the install tool.
Spins like the day it was made. Drive side mounting ring is pressed onto
the bb and I don't see a reason to pry it off. I
Just realized I forgot something. The Z front derailleur is 31.8 clamp
size. I ran it on an old Cannondale for a while.
