That's a great design. Maybe I will buy a front or rear wire rack now.

Finally, I figured out how to get the video to Flikr. As you can tell, I
still am learning how to post. I apologize for the repeat posts. Anywhoo,
here is the basket in live action! Check out the video.

It is plenty strong laterally. The buckle is pretty burly. When tightened
down, the basket gets smooshed between the front hook and the slanted
rear rack upright. I rock the basket and the rack flexes. No movement. I've
carried 15-18 lbs. in it with no problem whatsoever.
On Sunday, March
I will try to get a video done to show the installation and removal of the
basket along with the lateral strength when mounted. I'll post it in a day
or two.

I will try to get a video made in the next day or two showing the ease of
use and the lateral strength. It's plenty strong. When I rock the basket,
the whole rack flexes, not the connection. I think if you used a Wald or a
light basket, there might be an issue. I bought this online and it was a

Nice and clean. Looks like a great set up.

Slick, indeed... but I would be slightly concerned about lateral stability,
particularly when carrying a load that is heavily weighted to one side...
do the connectors front and rear have enough strength to keep the basket
from 'rolling' left or right without putting undue strain on those
Function and usability comes way ahead before elegance, but that looks
great too! Nice work.

I'm totally impressed. I'd like to do that on my Quickbeam, instead of the hose
clamps holding the basket on. One could even use that principle on a coroplast
box, with one metal keel for the tongue and hasp mount. Hmm...

Sweet! You can even lock it if you want to. :) I don't quite understand the
angled basket to keep the cam tensioned. Wouldn't serious weight in the
basket push the basket all the way down to flat, which would then reduce
tension on the clasp just as you need it most? What am I missing?

That looks a whole lot eleganter than anything else I have seen!

Ok, now it is all finished, and elegantized. I polished the tongue and
filed the top buckle mount down to an asthetic shape and painted it black.
I also filed grooves on the sandwich to encapsulate the rack wire. Thanks
for all the compliments! Here's the finished
basket:

I have used about a half dozen velcro wire ties to attach a small basket to
a small front rack. You can't get them as tight as zips, so the trick is
to use a bunch at opposite points.
