The idea of riding through the night and napping in random places makes the idea completely unappealing to me. Wouldnt mind a hotel room if I could get a decent amount of hours in. Perhaps I will work my way up to the 200k. I could do that by august. -- You received this message because

If you have a local RUSA chapter, you should check out the riders at the start (or the finish) of these events. I think it would be a lot less intimidating to see the kinds of specimens that can do these events. It's all about preparation and being prepared. Whatever distance you can ride

I am too slow to be a Randonneur. I also didn't want to discommode anyone by calling them to come pick me up in the middle of nowhere if I DNF'd. But these rides must be awful fun to do! -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. To

Thanks for sharing this, Bill. It's beautiful country, hard to believe it's so close to millions of people. I have ridden some of these roads, but in shorter stretches and slower speeds than the randonneurs. A few roads are truly remote, with no cell service and sometimes not a single

Last spring I rode part of the 600k route in cyclotouriste mode over several days. And yeah, there were many times when I was thinking, "And there are people who can ride all this in 40 hours???" It's a really beautiful route, though, and I can highly recommend it for a bike touring trip. Just

I have done the Adventure Series rides. They are all challenging, but I found the 200k and the 600k to be hardest for different reasons. The 200k has a lot of technical dirt sections, and much opportunity to make up time if you approach the dirt sections with caution, as I have. The 600k
