Clayton: good for you, man! And the injuries and fright you gave that
stupid kid may well save him from a far worse fate, the hell of a long term
in a modern prison.

Great news about the Glorius, bummer about Evan's Superleicht.
I'll keep an eye open for it.

That lady is a known bike thief in sf. She's often wearing a mess bag and
lurking around bikes locked up

I'm so glad you got your bike back. I was another who was preparing to drive
down there when I got word that it had already been recovered. It's funny..I
had no idea what I was going to do when I got there, but everything in my brain
was "I'm not leaving without that Glorius." I didn't think of
Fantastic news! Terrific team effort.
While we're on the subject of bike theft, please keep a look out for my
Rivish Austro-Daimler Superleicht (picture attached). Stolen from my garage
(yes, it was locked, but even a stout cable lock is no match for bolt
cutters) in North Beach, San
Stellar! It makes me frickin' happy that you got your bike back! I really
hate bike thieves. I caught some before (they punched my kid, and stole his
bike) and the rush of revenge when I leapt off my bike at fifteen mph and
tackled the teen that was riding it, was very primal and shocking.
What story! I'm so glad you got the bike back.
A Gary Fischer MTB that I had for 10 years recently got stolen at a
Caltrain station. I have lot of great memories associated with it (esp of
taking my son around for many many rides since he was 18 months). The bike
was worth $100 tops, but
Amazing! Kudos to everyone who motivated to help you and to you for your
positive attitude about the experience. I hope you are able to find a more
secure location for your beautiful bike.
Best,

A lot of folks have asked, so here is the recovery story:
Brad emailed me and my husband, TR, ran down to the spot as soon as I got
the email which was within 30 min after the email was sent. When TR
arrived, he didn't see the bike because in that time, Andy, another biker,
bought the bike
I missed the "found it" post, but I'm very glad you recovered it. I had one
bike stolen, and it was annoying even though I didn't have much emotional
capital invested in it. (I did get a much better bike out of the insurance
company, though.)

I had a bike stolen 25 years ago and that was very upsetting. Not because
it was an expensive and beautiful bike like yours,

Looks to be a straightforward case of Purple With Envy. (Sorry, could not
help that.)
It appears the bike ended up in a homeless encampment. Is that correct? I
sympathize with losing a bicycle, but not having a place to live really
sucks on a whole nuther level. Which is not to say I approve
Awesome. Love to hear these kinds of endings. What a great, supportive gang

Great job to all involved. What a great story to start the day. These stories
rarely end well but if any bike is going to be hard to hide it will be a
gorgeous Purple Glorious! Happy bike day .

Thanks to an SF biker named Andy and Will at Rivendell, we got my bike back
this evening! Shoutouts to Brad and Chauncey too. I appreciate the
outpouring of support in the retrieval process. Feel lucky to be part of
