thanks again for the nice words, everybody. the 50mm big bens fit
comfortably. Will told me he had them on his with fenders, but there is
definitely some finagling involved. I just measured them with the caliper
and it came in at 46mm, slightly narrower than claimed.
I rode the bike to work
I have the same color Cheviot in a 55 but mine is "junked up" with front
and rear racks, fenders, and a kick stand. Makes me want to go lean and
clean on the bike (but I won't - the Honjo fenders cost a fortune to buy
and install).

Adam, do you know the true width of the Big Bens on your set-up, and how
comfortably do they fit? Barely, or do you have any room to spare?
Thanks.

That looks like a mean Cheviot! You brought up its dangerous inner soul!

thanks for the comments - this green color is amazing. i was excited to see
how it would look with the cream & natural colors. i agree & think it looks
cool. it rides pretty amazing. very burly but also lively. not terribly
heavy. i rode up some steep SF grades with it and it did just fine.
